THE COMPLETE PLACEMENT JOURNEY
HSBHAPG does not introduce an au pair to a family until the household has passed the required verification process. Every step below is followed in this exact order.
INITIAL ENROLLMENT
The family completes consortium enrollment and submits the initial signing payment.
This formally opens the family’s file and begins the placement process.
FAMILY VETTING
Before candidate matching begins, the family undergoes verification including background screening, identity verification, and financial confirmation.
HSBHAPG places au pairs only with families who pass this review.
HOUSEHOLD & CHILD NEEDS ASSESSMENT
A dedicated Executive Placement Advisor conducts the household intake.
Number of children, ages, medical needs, allergies, behavioral needs, developmental needs, neurological needs.
Whether one or multiple au pairs are required; live-in or live-out placement; one household or two.
Language requirements, medical credentials, protection training, and other specializations.
One au pair generally cares for up to three children in a standard household; larger households, wider age gaps, or significant child needs may require additional au pairs.
CANDIDATE MATCHING
HSBHAPG matches candidates from the vetted au pair roster against the household needs, experience requirements, and requested specializations.

A company placement coordinator conducts an in-person walkthrough of the actual residence and the au pair’s living quarters before the au pair is introduced to the family.
FINAL BALANCE & ACTIVATION
Once SafeHaven Verification™ is completed and approved, the family’s remaining balance becomes due.
The placement file is formally activated.
AU PAIR INTRODUCTION
The matched au pair is introduced to the family only after household vetting is complete, the home has been independently verified, and SafeHaven Verification™ has been approved.
The introduction intentionally occurs near the end of the process.
ONBOARDING & CONTINUITY SETUP
GuardianLink™ coordination, emergency contacts, reporting systems, and the family’s Continuity Plan™ are activated.
The au pair then begins placement.
HSBHAPG IN-PERSON PRE-PLACEMENT PRACTICUM™
HSBHAPG includes an in-person practicum within its pre-placement preparation process, so an au pair’s caregiving skills can be observed in person — under authorized supervision, and always with the child’s safety and welfare taking priority — before the au pair proceeds toward permanent placement with a family.
AN INDEPENDENT IN-PERSON HOUSEHOLD VERIFICATION
SafeHaven Verification™ is a mandatory, non-negotiable step in every placement regardless of consortium tier, country, or how well the family is already known to HSBHAPG.
PURPOSE
Confirm in person that the residence is the same residence listed on the family’s paperwork, that it is where the au pair will actually live, and that the living quarters meet HSBHAPG’s minimum standard for safety, privacy, and dignity.
WHEN IT HAPPENS
After family vetting and background clearance — and before the au pair is introduced to the family. SafeHaven Verification™ is never treated as an afterthought after the au pair arrives.
WHO CONDUCTS IT
A company placement coordinator, in person, at the physical address on file. SafeHaven Verification™ is not completed solely by a remote video call or by photographs submitted by the family.
WHAT WE VERIFY
The exact address matches the residence where the au pair will live.
The children in the au pair’s care reside at that residence.
If a family maintains two households, both residences are independently walked through and verified.
The au pair’s living quarters meet the minimum HSBHAPG standard.
The living space is private.
The living space is secure.
The au pair can access the space without depending on the family’s permission or presence to enter.
IF TWO AU PAIRS ARE PLACED
Each au pair is provided their own private bedroom meeting the HSBHAPG living-quarters standard.
Shared living quarters between two au pairs may occur only with the informed consent of both au pairs and are never the default arrangement.
VERIFICATION DOCUMENTATION
Following the walkthrough, the placement coordinator completes a written verification report.
The report confirms the address, documents the condition and privacy of the living quarters, and any items requiring correction are documented. The verification report becomes a permanent part of the family’s file.
PLACEMENT DOES NOT PROCEED UNTIL EVERY REQUIRED SAFEHAVEN ITEM IS CONFIRMED AND APPROVED.
THE HSBHAPG LIVING STANDARD
Every HSBHAPG au pair placement, at every tier, must provide appropriate private living accommodations.
A PRIVATE BEDROOM
The bedroom may be within the main residence or a separate structure such as a guest house. The bedroom must include:
A door that locks from the inside
Mini refrigerator
Cabinetry or closet storage
Dresser
Desk
Bookshelf
A PRIVATE FULL BATHROOM
The bathroom must not be shared with the family and must include:
Private full bathroom (not shared with the family)
Bath or shower
Sink
Toilet
A window or windows providing natural light and fresh air.
A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
Families trust HSBHAPG with the safety and care of their children.
At the same time, an au pair trusts HSBHAPG with their own safety inside a private residence the company cannot observe every day.
